Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport, international schools, healthcare and a vibrant food and cultural scene. Hospitality, finance, technology, aviation, retail and professional services provide many career opportunities, while experienced safety and compliance managers are valued by hotels, property groups and major infrastructure employers. Life is fast-paced and urban, but beaches, hiking trails, islands and country parks are close by. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hotels. Overseas professionals normally require an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer; applications generally depend on qualifications, relevant experience, a confirmed job and market-level salary. Employees should arrange housing carefully because rent is high, and budget for deposits, utilities and commuting. Relocation is easier with employer assistance, especially for accommodation, visa paperwork and medical coverage.
