Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Sumatra, and other resort destinations. Bali is the most internationally established market, with strong demand for executive chefs, restaurant leaders, and luxury-resort professionals; Jakarta and Surabaya offer more corporate and urban hotel roles. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, respect for elders, and religious diversity. Lifestyle varies from busy city living to relaxed beach communities, with generally affordable local food and transport, although premium areas can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay permit, commonly arranged through the company before employment begins. Candidates should verify visa rules, tax obligations, accommodation, healthcare, schooling, and dependent arrangements. Learning basic Indonesian is valuable, even in international hotels, and flexibility regarding local customs and working practices is important.
