Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in resort hospitality, event sales, tourism, food and beverage, retail and hotel operations, particularly in Langkawi, Penang, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur. Langkawi provides a relaxed island lifestyle, beaches, nature and a strong resort market, while Penang combines heritage, culture, food and a larger urban community. Malaysian workplace culture is generally polite, relationship-oriented and multicultural, with English widely used in hotels. Living costs are moderate compared with many international resort destinations, although island housing and imported goods may cost more. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship and an approved Employment Pass before beginning work; requirements depend on salary, qualifications and nationality. Employers commonly assist with applications, accommodation guidance and relocation. Candidates should confirm visa conditions, medical requirements, taxes, housing, transport and whether meals or service benefits are included before accepting an offer.
