Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a fast-paced international city built around Victoria Harbour, combining dense urban districts with beaches, hiking trails, outlying islands, and traditional villages. Hospitality offers opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, events, tourism, retail, and guest services, with English widely used and Cantonese especially valuable. Life is convenient, highly connected, and energetic, although accommodation costs are among the highest in Asia. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; respect, punctuality, and professional presentation are important at work. Public transport is excellent, and newcomers can explore areas such as Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Sai Kung, Lantau, and the surrounding islands. Foreign nationals generally need an appropriate employment visa sponsored by an employer before starting work. Applications usually require a confirmed job, qualifications or relevant experience, and proof that the role meets immigration requirements. Prospective employees should confirm visa sponsorship, housing, insurance, tax, and relocation support directly with Shangri-La.
