Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied island lifestyles and hospitality opportunities in Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak. Penang combines a historic multicultural city, strong food culture, beaches, and urban conveniences. Langkawi provides a quieter resort lifestyle with growing demand for hotel, engineering, marine, and tourism staff. Sabah’s islands and coastal resorts offer outdoor living, diving, and nature-based tourism, while Sarawak provides a more relaxed environment and access to rainforest destinations. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences; English is widely used in hotels, although Malay is useful for daily life. Living costs are moderate, but island accommodation and transport may be higher. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an approved Employment Pass before starting work. Engineering roles may require Malaysian regulatory certification, so applicants should confirm recognition of their Chargeman qualifications, accommodation, transport, tax, and medical benefits before relocating.
