Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, aviation, technology, education, healthcare, and business services. Hospitality jobs are especially common in Colombo, the southern beach resorts, the Cultural Triangle, Kandy, and the eastern coast. The culture combines Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences, with Buddhism playing an important role. Life is generally warm, social, and affordable, although traffic, bureaucracy, and occasional power or supply disruptions can require patience. Hambantota is quieter than Colombo, with beaches, wildlife parks, temples, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. Foreign employees normally need an employment visa or residence authorization sponsored by their employer; requirements can change, so confirmation from the company and the Sri Lankan Department of Immigration is essential. Relocating staff should arrange certified qualifications, medical documents, insurance, accommodation details, and a local bank account. English is widely used in the hospitality industry.
