Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and tourism. Hotel maintenance professionals can find roles in international hotels, serviced residences, commercial buildings and integrated resorts. The culture is multicultural and generally orderly, with English widely used in workplaces alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient, safe and highly connected, though accommodation and daily expenses can be relatively high. Public transport is excellent, and the city offers diverse food, shopping, parks and waterfront attractions. Foreign candidates normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; approval is handled by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Before relocating, confirm the offer, pass eligibility, medical requirements, housing costs and taxation. Singapore has a tropical climate, so newcomers should expect year-round heat, humidity and frequent rain.
