Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology, logistics and professional services. Hotel jobs are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Lantau, with English widely used in international workplaces and Cantonese important for many customer-facing roles. The lifestyle is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking trails and beaches, but housing is expensive and living spaces are often small. Foreign nationals must hold a visa permitting employment; visitors cannot legally work. Most overseas hires require employer sponsorship under an employment visa, while working-holiday arrangements may apply to eligible nationalities. Part-time work must also comply with visa conditions. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, a local bank account, an Octopus travel card and appropriate medical insurance. Hong Kong is well connected internationally, making relocation practical for experienced hospitality workers.
