Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sustainability, retail, technology, education and professional services. Island and coastal destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and parts of Sarawak offer resort, hotel and marine-tourism employment, while Kuala Lumpur provides the widest corporate opportunities. Local culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with festivals, varied cuisine and strong community values. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, though Kuala Lumpur and popular resort islands can be more expensive. Malaysia has tropical weather, attractive beaches and good regional travel connections. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit, commonly an Employment Pass, arranged before starting work; requirements depend on salary, qualifications and nationality. Relocating candidates should budget for accommodation, medical cover, transport and deposits, and confirm whether staff housing or relocation support is included.
