Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Malacca and other resort destinations. Island-based roles are especially common in Langkawi, Penang and parts of Sabah, while Kuala Lumpur provides broader corporate and luxury-hotel career options. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hotels. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed beaches, outdoor activities and affordable local food. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass before starting work; the employer usually handles the application, and approval depends on qualifications, salary and immigration rules. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, medical coverage, working hours and relocation costs before accepting an offer. Malaysia is generally welcoming, but newcomers should budget for deposits, permits, flights and initial living expenses.
