Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. The workplace is multicultural, organised and service-focused, with English widely used in business. Lifestyle is convenient and safe, supported by excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and vibrant neighbourhoods. Living costs, especially rent, are relatively high, so shared accommodation is common for entry-level hospitality workers. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and current government rules. Employers normally guide successful candidates through the application process, but workers should verify contract terms, deductions, accommodation and medical coverage before relocating. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with heavier rain during monsoon periods. A valid passport, employment documents and sufficient savings for initial expenses are advisable.
