Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, multicultural city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Hospitality jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, the airport and major business districts. English is widely used, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also common. Life is safe, clean and highly convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping and extensive leisure options, though rent and daily expenses can be high. Foreign workers generally need employer-sponsored permission, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or relevant Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and job type. Employers normally arrange the application before relocation. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, transport, healthcare and deposits, and confirm housing and pass conditions before accepting an offer.
