Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city and island territory with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, retail, aviation, construction and professional services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international business practices, festivals, street food and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Employees can enjoy efficient public transport, diverse restaurants, hiking trails, beaches and lively neighborhoods, although housing is expensive and space is limited. For overseas hires, the employer normally sponsors an employment visa under Hong Kong’s General Employment Policy; applicants usually need a confirmed job offer, relevant qualifications or experience and proof that the role cannot be filled as readily locally. Dependants may generally accompany approved visa holders. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, a Hong Kong identity card, banking, insurance and tax registration. Mandarin and English are widely used professionally, while Cantonese is valuable for daily integration.
