Destination Guide

The Philippines offers hospitality opportunities across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, particularly in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan and Davao. Jobs are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events, diving and wellness, with English widely used in the workplace. Filipino culture is warm, family-oriented and community-minded; respect, friendliness and adaptability are highly valued. Lifestyle varies from busy metropolitan living in Manila to relaxed beach communities in Cebu, Boracay or Palawan. Costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although central Manila and popular resort islands can be expensive. Foreign nationals need the correct immigration status to work: employers normally support an Alien Employment Permit and an appropriate work visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employee visa. A tourist visa does not authorise employment. Check current requirements with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration and the hiring company before relocating.
