Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with varied opportunities across Java, Bali, Sumatra, Lombok and other islands. Jakarta and Surabaya offer the broadest corporate and hotel employment markets, while Bali, Lombok and destinations such as Batam focus strongly on resorts, tourism, restaurants and wellness. Indonesian workplaces value politeness, teamwork, respect for seniority and relationship-building. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with generally affordable food and transport, although Bali’s popular areas can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work authorization and an appropriate limited-stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers commonly assist with immigration paperwork, but requirements and fees should be confirmed before accepting an offer. Relocation planning should include accommodation, health insurance, tax registration, banking and local transport. Learning basic Bahasa Indonesia makes everyday life and workplace communication easier.
