Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality and events opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations. Langkawi is the country’s best-known island workplace, combining beaches, international resorts and a relaxed lifestyle, while Penang offers stronger urban culture, food and heritage. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in hotels and business. Living costs vary, with resort islands sometimes requiring higher budgets for imported goods and housing. International employees normally need an Employment Pass sponsored by their employer, and approval must be obtained before starting work. Employers commonly assist with documentation, relocation and accommodation arrangements. Expect a warm, humid climate, seasonal rain and a generally family-friendly lifestyle. Research healthcare, schooling, transport and island connectivity before relocating, as services may be more limited outside major cities.
