Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city with a fast-paced lifestyle, excellent public transport and a strong hospitality, tourism, retail and finance job market. Opportunities are available in hotels, restaurants, catering, events and luxury food and beverage operations, particularly for trained chefs and multilingual service professionals. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is commonly used in hotels and international workplaces. Rent can be high, so many employees live in shared accommodation or areas outside the central districts. Public healthcare, shopping, hiking trails and beaches are easily accessible, offering a balance between urban life and outdoor activities. Foreign employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer before starting work. The employer normally supports the application, while applicants provide qualifications, work history and a valid passport. Dependants may require separate arrangements.
