Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and international business. Hospitality workers can find roles in front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, events and guest relations, particularly in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay and resort areas. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, excellent food and a fast-paced work style. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighborhoods and shopping to hiking, beaches and nearby islands. Most overseas employees need an employment visa sponsored by the hiring company; applicants generally need a confirmed offer and qualifications relevant to the position. Employers commonly assist with visa paperwork, while candidates should budget for deposits, housing and transport. Hong Kong has efficient public transit, but accommodation can be expensive, so staff housing or a housing allowance is worth checking.
