Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers diverse hotel, tourism, retail, finance, technology and restaurant opportunities, particularly for candidates with language skills and customer-service experience. Cantonese and English are valuable, while Mandarin can be an advantage. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighborhoods, international dining, shopping, hiking and nearby beaches. Accommodation is expensive, so employees commonly share apartments or live in districts connected by the MTR. Foreign nationals normally require an employment visa sponsored by a confirmed employer; the company usually submits the application, and the role should meet immigration requirements regarding qualifications and salary. Dependants may be eligible for dependant visas. New arrivals should arrange a passport, employment contract, proof of qualifications, medical or police documents if requested, and sufficient funds for the initial rental deposit. Hong Kong has a fast-paced, multicultural working environment and generally mild winters with hot, humid summers and typhoon precautions.
