Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services, with particularly active recruitment in luxury hospitality. The city combines Chinese traditions with international influences, reflected in its festivals, food, language and fast-paced working culture. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighbourhoods and excellent public transport to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Accommodation can be expensive, so many newcomers share flats or live in areas connected by the MTR. Overseas employees normally need an employer-sponsored work visa and must meet Immigration Department requirements; dependants may qualify for accompanying visas. Employers often assist with documentation, but applicants should confirm contract terms, housing, medical coverage and visa sponsorship before relocating. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in hotels and business settings.
