Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, facilities management, food and beverage, tourism and engineering, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Island destinations such as Langkawi and Penang provide a relaxed coastal lifestyle, while resort work can involve staff accommodation, shift schedules and seasonal guest demand. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in hospitality, alongside Bahasa Malaysia. Living costs are generally moderate, though island housing and imported goods may cost more. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass sponsored by the hiring company, and should not begin work before approval. Employers usually guide the application, medical checks and immigration process. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, leave, tax treatment and contract terms before relocating. Malaysia has warm weather year-round, with heavier rain during monsoon periods depending on the region.
