Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in banking, technology, semiconductors, manufacturing, education, healthcare, tourism, and international business. Taipei is the main financial and professional hub, while Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung also provide growing employment markets. The culture blends Chinese traditions, Indigenous heritage, Japanese influence, and modern urban life. Residents enjoy excellent food, efficient public transport, convenience stores, mountain scenery, beaches, hot springs, and generally affordable living compared with major global cities. Mandarin is the main language; English is common in multinational workplaces but less universal elsewhere. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and resident visa, with qualifications and health checks potentially required. Taiwan’s Employment Gold Card may suit eligible skilled professionals. Before relocating, arrange housing, health insurance, tax registration, and document authentication, and check current immigration rules with official authorities.
