Destination Guide

Taiwan offers opportunities in banking, asset management, technology, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and international trade, with Taipei serving as the main financial and corporate center. The culture combines Chinese traditions with a modern, open, and practical lifestyle. People generally value respect, reliability, modesty, and relationship-building. Taiwan provides excellent public transportation, convenient healthcare, diverse food, vibrant night markets, mountains, beaches, and a relatively manageable cost of living compared with many major Asian financial hubs. English is common in international firms, although Mandarin significantly improves daily life and career prospects. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and resident visa; highly skilled applicants may qualify for the Employment Gold Card. Relocation commonly involves arranging housing, health insurance, tax registration, banking, and local documentation. Taipei is convenient but more expensive, while cities such as Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung offer a slower pace and lower living costs.
