Sydney and Melbourne are major financial and corporate centres, while Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra offer growing opportunities and often different living costs. Australian workplace culture is generally professional, practical, collaborative and relatively informal, with emphasis on inclusion, safety and work-life balance. Lifestyle choices range from beaches and outdoor activities to arts, sport, dining and vibrant multicultural communities. Skilled professionals may qualify for employer-sponsored visas, including the Temporary Skill Shortage pathway or permanent skilled programs, subject to occupation, experience, English and eligibility requirements. Relocation typically involves arranging a visa, health insurance, housing, tax registration and banking. Costs can be high, especially in Sydney and Melbourne, so applicants should compare salary, rent, transport and schooling before moving.
