Destination Guide

Australia is an island nation with strong employment opportunities in banking, healthcare, technology, construction, education, engineering, tourism and professional services. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra offer the largest job markets, while regional centres such as Geelong provide a lower-cost lifestyle and growing industries. Australian culture is generally informal, multicultural and outdoor-oriented, with an emphasis on work-life balance, punctuality and workplace safety. Lifestyle costs vary considerably; housing is usually more affordable outside the major capitals, although transport and rent should be researched carefully. Skilled workers may need an employer-sponsored, skilled migration or regional visa, depending on their occupation and circumstances. Applicants should check current requirements through the Department of Home Affairs. Relocating typically involves securing work rights, accommodation, health insurance, tax registration and a local bank account.
