Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a major international financial centre and offers strong opportunities in wealth management, banking, asset management, technology, professional services and fintech. Its culture blends Cantonese and broader Chinese traditions with international influences, and English is widely used in business. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse restaurants, shopping, hiking trails and beaches, although housing is expensive and space is limited. Salaries in finance can be competitive, but living costs should be considered carefully. Overseas professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work visa, commonly through the General Employment Policy, and must show relevant qualifications, experience and a confirmed job offer. Employers often assist with sponsorship and relocation, but applicants should confirm tax, housing, healthcare and dependent arrangements. Hong Kong's dense urban environment and fast-paced working culture suit candidates seeking an international career with easy access to wider Asia.
