Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in asset management, banking, fintech, insurance, consulting, technology, and professional services, particularly in Central, Admiralty, and Quarry Bay. The city blends Cantonese Chinese traditions with international influences; English is widely used in business, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life and local relationships. Lifestyle options range from excellent restaurants and shopping to hiking, beaches, islands, and a busy cultural calendar. Public transport is fast and extensive, although housing can be expensive and apartments are often compact. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa, commonly sponsored through the General Employment Policy, with approval based on qualifications, a genuine job offer, and market-level pay. Employers usually assist with sponsorship and onboarding. New arrivals should budget for rent deposits, healthcare, utilities, and relocation costs, and confirm tax, dependent-visa, and insurance arrangements before moving.
