Destination Guide

Spain’s islands, including the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands, offer employment in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism sales, activities, transport, retail and seasonal events. Lanzarote is known for volcanic landscapes, beaches, surfing, diving and a relaxed international community. Its lifestyle is outdoor-oriented, with mild weather throughout much of the year, though accommodation can be limited and rents have increased in popular areas. Spanish is useful for daily life, while English and other European languages are highly valuable in tourism. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens generally need registration and a Spanish identification number to work. Non-EU nationals normally require a work and residence permit arranged with an eligible employer before starting employment. New arrivals should budget for housing deposits, transport and administrative costs, and confirm contract terms, commission structure, working hours and staff accommodation before relocating.
