Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, technology, manufacturing, finance, education, and international business. Taipei is the main corporate hub, while Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Chiayi, and Yunlin provide opportunities in manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, and regional sales. Taiwanese culture values respect, reliability, family, food, and relationship-building; workplaces are often collaborative but can be hierarchical. Daily life is convenient, with excellent public transport, affordable food, healthcare, night markets, mountains, beaches, and a lively café culture. Mandarin is important for most local roles, although multinational companies commonly use English internally. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate resident visa, with health insurance enrollment after employment begins. Relocating employees should arrange housing, tax registration, banking, and local transportation. Chiayi and Yunlin generally offer a quieter, lower-cost lifestyle than Taipei, though regional sales jobs may require frequent driving and travel.
