Destination Guide

Ireland offers strong opportunities in software engineering, cloud computing, cybersecurity, pharmaceuticals, finance, medical technology, and multinational technology services. Dublin is the main technology hub, while Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Waterford also provide growing employment markets. Irish culture is friendly, social, and community-oriented, with a strong tradition of music, sport, and hospitality. The lifestyle combines lively cities with accessible coastlines, countryside, and historic towns, although housing costs—particularly in Dublin—can be high. EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens can generally live and work without a visa. Non-EU nationals normally need an employment permit, with roles in software and cloud engineering often qualifying for a Critical Skills Employment Permit if salary and job conditions meet current requirements. Candidates should arrange accommodation, tax registration, a PPS number, banking, and private health cover where appropriate before or soon after arrival.
