Destination Guide

Ireland offers opportunities in technology, cloud computing, data centres, engineering, pharmaceuticals, finance, construction, and multinational services. Dublin is the main employment hub, while Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Waterford also have strong specialist sectors. Irish workplace culture is generally collaborative, informal, and communication-oriented, with English widely used professionally. The lifestyle combines lively cities, coastal scenery, music, sport, and easy access to countryside, although housing costs and availability—especially in Dublin—can be challenging. EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens can generally live and work without an employment permit. Non-EEA candidates usually need an appropriate employment permit, such as a Critical Skills Employment Permit, depending on salary, occupation, and qualifications. Candidates should secure an offer, confirm permit eligibility, arrange accommodation, obtain a Personal Public Service number, and review tax, healthcare, banking, and transport arrangements before relocating.
