Destination Guide

Ireland offers strong opportunities in technology, cloud computing, pharmaceuticals, financial services, medical devices, and international business. Dublin is the main technology hub, while Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Waterford also provide growing employment markets. Irish workplaces are generally collaborative and informal, with English widely used and good value placed on communication and work-life balance. The country offers attractive scenery, music, pubs, sporting communities, and easy access to Europe, although housing costs and availability—especially in Dublin—can be challenging. EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens normally do not need a work permit. Non-EU applicants may require an employment permit; eligible technology roles can qualify for a Critical Skills Employment Permit, subject to salary and occupation requirements. Relocating candidates should budget for deposits, temporary accommodation, transport, healthcare arrangements, and immigration processing, and confirm current rules with official Irish authorities.
