Company Info

Amazon is a global technology and commerce company operating across e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, logistics, advertising, and artificial intelligence. Its cloud division, Amazon Web Services, provides computing, storage, networking, database, and other technology services to organisations worldwide. The company employs people in many technical, operational, and corporate roles and is known for large-scale infrastructure, customer focus, and data-driven decision-making. In Ireland, Amazon has significant operations in Dublin and other locations, including AWS engineering, corporate, fulfilment, and support teams. An Optical Deployment Engineer would typically contribute to the physical network infrastructure that connects data centres and supports reliable, high-speed cloud services. The work can involve collaboration with design, construction, network operations, vendors, and field-service teams, making it suitable for engineers who enjoy practical infrastructure projects and technically demanding environments.

Destination Guide

Ireland offers strong opportunities in technology, cloud computing, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, finance, medical devices, and international business. Dublin is the main employment hub, while Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Waterford also have growing technology and engineering sectors. Irish workplace culture is generally informal, collaborative, and friendly, with English used widely in professional settings. The lifestyle combines lively cities, coastal scenery, outdoor activities, music, and a well-established social culture, although housing costs and availability can be challenging, particularly in Dublin. Citizens of the EU, EEA, and Switzerland can work without a visa. Non-EEA applicants usually need an employment permit before starting work; eligibility depends on the occupation, salary, and employer, and some engineering or technology roles may qualify for a Critical Skills permit. Candidates should confirm requirements with Ireland’s official immigration and employment-permit services and arrange accommodation early.
