Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied career opportunities in finance, pharmaceuticals, technology, shared services, manufacturing, and logistics, especially around Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. Its islands and coastal destinations, including Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang, Sabah, and Sarawak, provide beaches, diving, rainforests, and distinctive local cultures. Daily life is generally comfortable and affordable compared with many major Asian cities, with excellent food, shopping, private healthcare, and international schools. Malaysia is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and expatriate communities; English is widely used in business. Foreign professionals normally need employer-sponsored work authorisation, such as an Employment Pass, before starting work. Relocating employees should arrange a valid passport, employment contract, housing, health insurance, banking, and tax registration. Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur offer the easiest access to offices, international communities, airports, and weekend island travel.
