Destination Guide

Japan offers IT, hospitality, finance, education, engineering and tourism opportunities, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya and Fukuoka. Kyoto is attractive for its temples, seasonal scenery, traditional arts and international visitors, although housing and daily costs can be high. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, courtesy, teamwork, attention to detail and respectful communication; learning basic Japanese is highly beneficial even in international hotels. A work visa normally requires employer sponsorship and a Certificate of Eligibility before arrival. IT professionals may qualify under the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services status, subject to qualifications and job requirements. Relocating typically involves arranging housing, residence registration, health insurance, a bank account and tax procedures. Japan has excellent public transport, safe cities and reliable infrastructure, but adapting to language, workplace formality, earthquakes and humid summers requires preparation. Kyoto’s tourism industry may also involve irregular schedules and busy seasonal periods.
