Destination Guide

The Maldives offers hospitality opportunities in resorts, spas, restaurants, marine activities, housekeeping, engineering and guest services, with many roles available to international workers. Life is usually based on a self-contained resort island such as Landaa Giraavaru, surrounded by beaches, lagoons and coral reefs. The lifestyle is peaceful and scenic but remote, with limited shopping and entertainment compared with Malé. Maldivian culture is welcoming and strongly influenced by Islam, so modest dress and respect for local customs are important, especially when visiting inhabited islands. English is widely used in resorts, while Dhivehi is the national language. Foreign employees generally require an employer-sponsored work permit and valid employment approval; the resort normally supports this process. Relocation commonly includes flights, staff accommodation, meals and airport transfers, but these should be confirmed in writing. Candidates should also check contract terms, medical requirements, leave arrangements and mobile connectivity before arrival.
