Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, technology, and business-service opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak. Although Kuala Lumpur is on the Malaysian Peninsula rather than an island, it is a major gateway to Malaysia’s island destinations. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences; English is widely used in hotels and business. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in major Western cities, while Kuala Lumpur provides excellent dining, shopping, public transport, and healthcare. Island areas offer beaches, diving, nature, and a slower pace, but may have fewer specialized jobs. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass arranged before working. Applicants should confirm eligibility, salary requirements, accommodation, tax, healthcare, and relocation support with the employer. Climate is tropical, hot, humid, and rainy throughout the year.
