Company Info

Oaks Port Douglas Resort is a tropical accommodation and events property located near the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest in Far North Queensland. It operates under Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites, part of Minor Hotels, an international hospitality group with properties across Australia, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The resort provides guest accommodation, leisure facilities, dining and conference or event services for holidaymakers, groups, weddings and corporate clients. Its setting gives the property a strong leisure and destination-events focus, while its commercial operations depend on effective sales, service delivery and close teamwork across departments. Employees generally work in a relaxed resort environment, although the role can involve busy periods, weekend or evening events, and seasonal fluctuations in tourism.

Destination Guide

Australia offers hospitality opportunities in resorts, hotels, restaurants, tourism, events and corporate services, particularly in Queensland, including Port Douglas, Cairns and the Whitsunday Islands. The culture is generally informal, friendly and multicultural, with an emphasis on punctuality, workplace safety and practical teamwork. Port Douglas provides a warm tropical lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities, reef trips and rainforest access, but housing and transport can be limited or expensive. Eligible applicants may use a Working Holiday visa, while skilled professionals may require employer sponsorship or another work visa. Candidates should confirm visa conditions, work rights, tax requirements and health insurance before relocating. Port Douglas is a regional tourism destination, so seasonal employment is common. A driving licence can be useful, and securing accommodation before arrival is recommended. Australia is geographically an island continent, although Port Douglas itself is on the mainland.
