Destination Guide

Australia is a large, multicultural country with strong opportunities in hospitality, cleaning, tourism, healthcare, construction, technology and agriculture. Melbourne has a diverse food scene, major sporting and cultural events, reliable public transport and a generally relaxed but busy urban lifestyle. Workplaces value punctuality, safety, clear communication and respect for diversity. Living costs, especially rent, can be high in central Melbourne, so many workers share accommodation or live in surrounding suburbs. International applicants need a visa with appropriate work rights; common options include Working Holiday visas, employer-sponsored visas and student visas with work limits. Requirements vary by nationality, age, occupation and employer, so applicants should check the Australian Department of Home Affairs before travelling. New arrivals should arrange a tax file number, bank account, local phone service and suitable health insurance. Australia is geographically remote, but major cities offer established migrant communities and relocation services.
