Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in technology consulting, cloud, SAP, cybersecurity, shared services, digital marketing and multinational business operations, especially around Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor. Its island destinations, including Penang, Langkawi and parts of Sabah and Sarawak, provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, food culture and outdoor activities, while major cities offer better access to corporate jobs and international schools. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in business. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore, the UK or Australia, though central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application. Candidates should confirm salary, tax, healthcare, relocation support and hybrid-work arrangements before accepting an offer.
