Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers career opportunities in apparel and textiles, tourism, logistics, information technology, finance, manufacturing, and business services. Colombo and nearby industrial zones provide many corporate and factory-based roles, while cities such as Kandy, Galle, and Jaffna offer different lifestyle and employment options. The culture combines Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences, with strong traditions of hospitality, family, food, religion, and festivals. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although Colombo is more expensive; public transport is affordable and beaches, mountains, and national parks are easily accessible. Foreign nationals need the appropriate employment or residence approval, normally supported by an employer. A tourist visa does not permit employment. Before relocating, confirm sponsorship, accommodation, healthcare, taxes, contract terms, and current immigration requirements with the employer and Sri Lankan authorities.
