Destination Guide

Sri Lanka is an island nation with strong opportunities in apparel manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, information technology, tourism, finance, engineering, and business services. Colombo and nearby industrial zones offer the greatest concentration of jobs, while Kandy, Galle, Katunayake, and other cities provide additional opportunities. The country has a warm tropical climate, relatively affordable living costs, diverse food, beaches, mountains, and a rich mix of Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial cultural influences. English is widely used in professional workplaces, alongside Sinhala and Tamil. Foreign nationals generally need an appropriate employment or residence visa sponsored or supported by an employer; tourist visas do not permit employment. Interns should confirm visa eligibility, accommodation, transport, healthcare, and work authorization with MAS and Sri Lankan immigration authorities before relocating.
