Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, facilities management, technology, healthcare, finance and logistics. The culture is multicultural, organised and fast-paced, with English widely used in workplaces alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and convenient access to Southeast Asia. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, so many workers share accommodation or live outside the city centre. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; approval is handled through Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Before relocating, candidates should confirm the pass type, medical requirements, contract benefits, accommodation arrangements and whether transport or meals are provided.
