Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, aviation, finance, technology and healthcare. Hospitality jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Changi and the central business district. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Public transport is efficient, while housing and daily expenses can be high, especially near central districts. Employees commonly use the MRT and buses for commuting. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and the role, with permits or passes arranged through Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Applicants should confirm sponsorship before accepting an offer. New arrivals should budget for deposits, accommodation, transport, medical insurance and documentation, and be prepared for a humid tropical climate year-round.
