Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities in hotel engineering, facilities management, construction, tourism and resort operations, especially in Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other major destinations. Bali is popular with expatriates because of its international hospitality sector, beaches and active social lifestyle, although housing and traffic can be costly. Java, including Jakarta and Surabaya, provides broader corporate and industrial opportunities with a faster urban pace. Lombok and smaller islands offer a quieter resort lifestyle but fewer services and career options. Indonesian workplaces are generally respectful and relationship-oriented, with Bahasa Indonesia widely used alongside English in international hotels. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa or work permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm accommodation, insurance, relocation support, tax obligations and visa arrangements before accepting an offer.
