Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in hospitality, engineering, technology, finance, healthcare, logistics and tourism. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and neighbourhoods. The lifestyle is safe, convenient and urban, with excellent public transport, shopping, parks and late-opening food centres, although rent and daily expenses can be high. For foreign workers, the employer usually applies for the appropriate work pass. Skilled professionals may qualify for an Employment Pass or S Pass, while eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and current government criteria. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, medical insurance, banking access and tax registration, and check employment conditions carefully. Singapore’s hot, humid climate and frequent rain make breathable clothing and reliable public transport especially useful.
