Job Description

The Host/Hostess welcomes guests, manages seating, handles reservations, answers enquiries and helps maintain a smooth dining-room operation at Summer Palace, Shangri-La Hong Kong. Shift work, weekends and public holidays are normally required.

Company Info

Shangri-La Group is a global luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other destinations. The group is recognised for warm Asian hospitality, refined service and high standards in guest care. Shangri-La Hong Kong is located in the city’s Admiralty district and operates luxury accommodation, restaurants, meeting facilities and wellness services. Summer Palace is the hotel’s acclaimed Cantonese fine-dining restaurant, known for traditional cuisine, elegant surroundings and attentive service. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment with structured training and opportunities to develop within the hotel and the wider Shangri-La network. Benefits may include meals, uniforms, medical coverage, staff rates and service-charge participation, depending on the position and employment terms.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic city and territory made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Hospitality offers opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, events, tourism and retail, although competition is strong and Cantonese is valuable; English and Mandarin are also widely used. The culture combines Chinese traditions, international influences, efficient city life and a strong food scene. Living costs, especially rent, are high, so many employees share accommodation or live farther from central districts. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa before starting work; the employer must demonstrate a genuine role and suitable salary. Applicants should confirm eligibility, medical or document requirements and contract benefits with Shangri-La. Hong Kong has humid summers, mild winters, excellent healthcare and convenient regional travel.
