Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, international city with a fast-paced lifestyle, excellent public transport and a strong hospitality, finance, retail, technology and logistics job market. Hotel and tourism roles are concentrated around Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, the airport and major resort areas. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is commonly used in hotels and international businesses; Mandarin is also useful. Life combines dense urban neighbourhoods, shopping and dining with beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Rent can be expensive, so many newcomers share accommodation or live in areas connected by the MTR. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa before starting work, with qualifications, a confirmed offer and proof that the role meets immigration requirements. Candidates should budget for deposits, transport and healthcare, and confirm whether accommodation or meals are included.
