Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology, healthcare, and international business. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; respect, efficiency, and professional courtesy are valued. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking, beaches, and vibrant neighbourhoods, although housing is expensive and living space can be limited. English is widely used in business and hospitality, while Cantonese is valuable for guest-facing roles; Mandarin can also help. Foreign nationals normally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer before starting work. Applicants generally need a confirmed job, suitable qualifications or experience, and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Dependants may qualify for related visas. New arrivals should budget for rent deposits, transport, healthcare, and daily expenses, and confirm visa, insurance, shift, and accommodation details with the employer.
