Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, property management, finance, retail and international business. The culture combines traditional Cantonese customs with a highly international, fast-paced urban lifestyle. Residents enjoy excellent public transport, diverse food, vibrant shopping and nightlife, coastal areas, hiking trails and nearby islands such as Lantau and Cheung Chau. Housing is expensive, particularly in central districts, so many employees live in Kowloon or the New Territories and commute by MTR. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer under Hong Kong’s General Employment Policy; approval depends on qualifications, relevant experience, a genuine job offer and market-standard pay. Employers may assist with documentation, but candidates should confirm visa, insurance, tax and relocation terms before accepting an offer. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in international hotels and business settings.
